Nritya Sangam (Kathak-Bharatanatyam Jugalbandi)

Shambhavi Vaze & Parimal Phadke

When two rivers meet it is Sangam. When two styles of Indian Classical Dance come together.….. it is NRITYA SANGAM.

These artists had a very successful tour in 2005 and are returning because of requests from many cities. However, there are still some dates open for your town.

Nritya Sangam brings two styles of music and dance on one platform: Kathak from North India and Bharatanatyam from South India. An interesting play of similarities and contrasts in music (Hindustani and Carnatic) and dance….. Shambhavi Vaze and Parimal Phadke explore the contrasts and similarities between the two styles. The juxtaposition becomes the forte of Nritya Sangam. Witness the magic, which Shambhavi and Parimal create on stage. Shambhavi becomes the Laasya (effeminate dance of Goddess Parvati) with her soft and graceful dance. Parimal is the Tandava (masculine dance of God Shiva) with his firm and energetic dance. Both create fireworks on stage through their rhythmic ‘Sawaal Jawaab’. The Abhinaya also brings out the beautiful and subtle emotions between a man and woman explored through ancient and modern poetry. Timeless.... Nritya Sangam becomes a metaphor for eternal blend of energy, form and content. This is a great program that can be enjoyed both the North Indian and South Indian community.
